Write down what’s failing, what’s just worn out, and anything already patched.
2. Check what’s behind the walls
Cabinet layout, clearances, lighting, venting, the existing plumbing and wiring, and any opening you want widened all need a look before finishes get ordered.
3. Nail down the scope in writing
Prep, protection, materials, access, permits, testing, cleanup, restoration, exclusions, and how change orders get priced should all be spelled out.
4. Weigh bids on substance
Check credentials, then see where each provider’s approach to the same scope actually differs.
5. Walk the finished job before signing off
Confirm testing, cleanup, paperwork, warranty terms, and any upkeep left to you.
